Title: VIP Levels
Post by: MuddUnders on August 05, 2014, 10:40:32 PM
Can someone please explain what these levels are and how viewers reach them? Do I have to manually give these or are can they be attained automatically?

I see that these levels gain in channel points faster, but is there a way to use these levels as goals for viewers?

The 3 different levels of VIP are Bronze, Silver and Gold. These can either be changed for a viewer manually by editing the viewer in the "user database" tab or automatically by that viewer donating a specified amount (If you have donations/tips setup). The default amount for this is $1 for bronze, $2 for silver and $10 for gold. These are the two ways to move a viewer into a VIP group.

You can also change the amount of points a VIP viewer gets by editing the points multiplier on the config tab.

Thanks,

P.S. If you want to move users between VIP groups depending on the amount of points they earn in the month, feel free to request that in the feature request forum :)

I see

So really the only benefit users get for the VIP is higher points per/time basis?

You could organize VIP only streams, raffles, chat, etc.

VIPs do get other benefits which are entirely up to the streamer. One example BlackWolf mentions is VIP only raffles. A simple change of some radio buttons can make it so it can be entered by all viewers or certain levels of VIPs. If you use Deepbot's chat to see what your viewers are saying you could also set that to "VIP only" mode so you can only see chat lines from them. Doing this won't affect Twitch chat on the main website or on IRC clients but will simply filter out chat lines said by viewers that aren't VIP. This would make it easier to invite VIPs to games you are currently playing as you won't need to manually sort through all the chat.

As I said though these are entirely optional. Ultimately it is up to you, the streamer, as to what you do with VIP viewers.
