Seconded. This is kind of a huge issue, I am curious when this issue will be fixed along with removing Spotify (since it doesn't work and just crashes the app). Been a while since the last patch...

Hi Jordan,

I really appreciate the response, however late it may have been I can understand it might have been a bit buried.. I am definitely glad to hear that you will raise this as a feature for the future! It's probably very easy to overlook, but is quite an important aspect of Twitch (lurking, that is) and it does feel awful when someone suddenly feels obligated to talk after a custom join message outs them. I just implemented your workaround, and I'm happy to say that so far (in my offline testing, not tried whilst live yet) it does seem to work as intended! At last a solution to this that still allows for the same personalisation the default bot setting gives without the drawback. I can't thank you enough for this. Fingers crossed the next updates include an option for "On first chat" to apply to per user messages!

I believe we are mistaking two different things. The welcome back message in the channel commands is not the issue, it is the per user message. I have attached a screenshot of what I mean, it is the prompt after editing a users settings. I am amazed that I haven't heard a single thing back from Deepbot staff after so long, as this is a seriously irritating problem that I wish I could get an answer on whether it is fixable or not.

Thank you for the response and the detailed explanation of a solution. This would potentially solve the issue of the bot welcoming a user multiple times, however the issue of it calling out lurkers is the primary problem as I have disabled the default "welcome back" message in the commands page. Unfortunately the solution you've posted, although very clever, I don't think would work in regards to personalized welcomes (ie. editing a users settings and adding a welcome that is unique to them only). This would still call them out potentially before they talk as it seems that message is triggered NOT on first chat. So even if it had been 12 hours since the last time, the command chain described would still register as correct, being 12+ hours since the last time, and activate, even if they haven't spoken yet. I believe this issue is sadly something the devs have to fix internally or at least address with a "on first chat" button for their personal message on a user-by-user basis.

So, whilst I really enjoy the custom messages you can set on a user-basis, the issue I've had with them since implementing them is that the message will be sent before they first chat. This is not ideal, as some viewers would rather stay able to lurk until they want to chat. I've seen other bots with this feature, and non of them call out lurking. I would imagine I'm not the first person with this problem, as lurking is very frequent and not everybody wants to be called out before they are ready to start chatting upon entering a stream.

Another note; I used to have a "welcome back" message set, but it would frequently repeat the message to the same users multiple times during a stream. Often it would happen when they have refreshed the page since, but it also likes to do it by it's own accord. Is there no way for Deepbot to log when users have first chatted, and save that data until the end of the session?

I would really love to see at least an option for these features. It's a very fun thing to be able to set, but it's the major issue I've had with it.

Edit: Yes, I have the "On first Chat" box ticked in Event Messages tab. It does not affect these user welcomes.

Well being a Twitch affiliate my account is 2FA enabled. I can only imagine it links back to Deepbot in some way...isn't the Deepbot mod ability tied to the user and settings on the PC rather than Twitch? This is especially weird as they are not a moderator nor have they ever been on my actual channel, so it was just shown on the user list.

Hey, so since I've been using deepbot I have noticed in the past that I've suddenly been following users on Twitch with my main account that I am certain I did not choose to follow. After looking into their profiles they have shown to be affiliated with Deepbot in some way. More worryingly, I just noticed the user "chyadosensei" was modded on my Deepbot client but I have no recollection of doing so, nor do they have any history in my channel besides being there for a couple of minutes on the 31st of May. What is happening?

Hey there,

So after updating to the most recent Closed Beta (after a stream where the link was working just fine) my Discord link has failed to connect. I've even tried connecting a new bot user with that ID, still nothing is working. Any ideas why this is or what I can do to fix this? I am aware that in the Change Log it is mentioned that the latest API has been included. Is this a possible cause of this issue?

So first off, did you do the !rename user command? (!rename oldusername newusername) Then the user needs to go to discord > settings > connections > remove/re-connect with new twitch account > Then DM the bot on Discord with the command "!link refresh".

So I'm aware that the username migration has been implemented natively within Deepbot, and for the most part that works just fine. My issue is, and I've seen people asking about this with no real response, once a user has linked their Twitch account via Deepbot for Discord connection and they've changed their username, the Twitch name that their Discord account is attached to no longer exists and they are unable to a. disconnect this old username and b. connect their Discord to the new one. I need this as I use a !regular command so that people can renew their VIP status themselves, and with their Discord account no longer able to ping back to the old username they had they no longer can be automatically designated a Discord role and it just inconveniences everyone. I seriously am confused that from what I can tell there is no method for a Discord username to be disconnected from a Twitch account entry in the bot, even by myself. I have one example of a viewer which created a new Twitch account instead, before the username change functionality appeared, and we quickly realized their Discord was permanently attached to their old account. Can you guys implement a way for the permissions link (via !link in the active Discord channel) to allow UNlinking instead of a permanent commitment? I can't really do anything about my viewers changing their usernames on Twitch and it is really disappointing that they are stuck once they do, even if the bot can transfer point/hour statistics over, it is apparently unable to transfer or even modify/remove Discord user links.
