Playlist structure for MP3
« on: June 24, 2015, 09:52:46 PM »
Hello,

I already tried for around 1 week to get an answer to this on the chat, but somehow all I got are totally offtopic answers or stuff like that, so I hope I get some better help here...

As I am from germany, I can only get around 25%, without proxying which is impossible through the bot, of the music on youtube and thus I want to use at least my own MP3s. But sadly, you can't just pick an MP3 from the local HDD, which is... weird... So I want to know how the structure for MP3 looks, so that I can at least add local songs.

thanks

Hi there,
the answers in the streamer chat from me and Repent weren't offtopic.
So i ask you here again, why you don't play your local MP3 files with any other player, that is not youtube based? Something like Winamp, Spotify or Itunes?
Hier steht nichts Sinnvolles, dennoch freundliche Grüße. MercurY

I didn't get answers from only one person, so if you didn't make an offtopic answer, please don't be offended...

Different reasons.
1. Ressources
Another software open costs more ressources. That can impact the Streaming quality, not everyone has a monster machine.

2. Convenience
It's easier to handle everything from one program, instead of having to use multiple ones.

3. Bot-Compatibility
It's nice to have the bot to announce stuff that is being played.

4. Player interactivity.
If it is via the bot, the users can add their own songs via youtube.

But even if I had no reasons, isn't it my thing how I want to use the bot ?
It's a bit annoying to have to justify every little bit, just to get a plain and simple answer, instead of detours all the way.

1.
true, but then you can listen to your music on the stream.

2.
yeah thats true, but then again, a youtube based player is maybe the wrong if you don't want to listen to the music on youtube.

3.
The Bot can announce the songinfos from a lot of players via last.fm

4.
yes, but you don't want to use Youtube because you live in Germany. Then i would reccomend you use Spotify for your music and others can add their music to the playlist. Deepbot can output the songinfo.

You want to use the bot in a way that is not possible at the moment. And if you think if someone, who wants to help you and shows you ways how you can do the things you want to do, offends you and you have to justify, then ok here is the simple answer that you also allready got: no you can't play local mp3 files through the bot player.

THIS is what no one told me before. Infact, two people on the bot told me, that I can use offlinesaved playlists also to include MP3s.
Both have been with a + before their name, thus I was believing what they said and that was the reason I was asking for a whole week, how the structure of a plst file has to be for a local file.

And it's not about wanting... I can't use youtube for the most content. That is a very huge difference.
But well, seems I have to be using another program unless the devs are implementing a local player-possibility.

thx
