DeepBot stops responding
« on: August 04, 2014, 12:59:05 AM »
Since the latest update Deepbot stops responding at random intervals. I can force this to happen by editing a user, it then hangs when "save" is clicked.

I believe this issue is something to do with the user database being accessed however re-installing the bot and using any of my user database backups did not work, my cpu usage has never gone above 2% regardless of these issues and deepbot has maxed out at using 6% of my RAM.

When this happens again, could you upload your errorlog? You can find this file in the "logs" file in the location where you have Deepbot.
If you need to get through to me you can try to contact me on Twitter @ http://www.twitter.com/dante556

There is no error log for this issue.

I've given up and installed an older version of the bot. It's running perfectly now.

Sorry to hear that. Which version have you installed? It could be features that have been added or changed since that version have made the program unstable on your system. I am noticing a lot more topics popping up of this nature and just trying to pinpoint where the problem stems from

Thanks,

I have encountered this problem when the user DB has over 25k.

It started happening again. I think it is to do with the user DB size as I have over 50k people in there now

The issue is definitely the size of the user database. Is there a way to purge all the people below a certain rank from my database? This would sort the issue for now.

I worked out that the DB was the issue by reinstalling the bot and running it without the old database, it ran perfectly. I then put my old database in and it caused the crashes.

I have 51k+ people in my DB which may be the source of this problem.

Hmm, interesting. This obviously could become a problem for users of Deepbot in the long term if this is actually the case. I'll be sure to inform Experts of that.

To my knowledge there isn't a way to purge users depending on their rank. The only way I currently knowing of would be to purge the whole database and let it reconstruct itself by grabbing your followers from the API. This of course would completely remove everyone's points which is far from ideal. Possible feature to suggest perhaps?

Either way if the amount of users in the database is the problem this will cause real problems down the line. By that point it's also a HUGE filesize as well which won't help with Hard drive space.

Thanks,
Dante557

I do not believe the size of the user database is the issue. There are a number streams with over a half a million users and some with even over a million.

Could you email me your database files to deepbot@deep.sg

Alternatively, if you have time, we could try debugging over teamviewer and see if we can get to the bottom of the issue.

I emailed the files to you. If you are unable to remedy the problem I'd be happy to de-bug over teamviewer. Thank you for your help.
