Running bot on separate PC
« on: January 21, 2015, 02:49:47 AM »
My channel is growing and with it, my Deepbot is getting increasingly busier.

I would like to move my bot to another PC, but am worried about the song requests. Is there a way to allow song requests to function, even if the bot is running on a different PC?

Thanks!

Yes, and it is very easy to do. If the computer is on the same network, just use the local IPv4 address when using the link for the music player down below. Also a thread with more Questions and Answers: Here.

Two Computer Music/Notification Setup

Question: I have two computers, one is a low end computer and the other is my streaming/gaming computer. The low end computer runs Deepbot 24/7, so that viewers can check their points, do bankheists, etc. I use my gaming machine to stream, but can't take advantage of Deepbots Follower/Donation notifications on my stream since the bot needs to run from my main computer. And running two bots causes issues. Is there any way to make it so I can get notification/music on my main machine while Deepbot runs on another?

Answer: There is an undocumented feature which is currently available for music and notifications.

If your DeepBot is running on another machine, you need to do the following:

For Music, you can load this in your browser : http://deepbot.deep.sg/YouTubePlayerv4.html?ip=[DeepBot Computer IP Here]
For Notifications, in OBS. simply add "?ip=[DeepBot Computer IP Here]" at the end of the notification link for a remote connection.

This also works for instances where DeepBot is hosted remotely. Just ensure for remote connections port 3337 is opened for connections.

Sorry one more question

For the text files OBS uses (follows, music played by etc). Is it as simple as just sharing the folder that Deepbot runs in on the 2nd PC and pointing OBS on the 1st PC to that file share/text files?

You could have a chrome plugin like Untamed Now playing, since it is a youtube video. Although you couldn't use requested by. As for notifications and what not you could do it thru dropbox or something, but the delay would probably take a bit to update.

What I mean is install the bot on the C drive

Right click that folder, share it out via windows sharing.

Go to the first PC, redirect the OBS text files and browse to that share/mapped drive

This should work. Gonna give it a go!

Alright, let me know if it works, if it does, you should let me know exactly how you did it, so I can let others know or post it as another solution for users that wanna do the same 2 PC setup.

actually nvm, I got it working. Had the wrong link.

And to follow up with the text file linking across computers, here is the process:

1. Install deepbot on the PC2
2. Share the drive that contains the deepbot files
3. Create a Mapped drive on the new share on PC1
4. Open OBS, edit the source for the text files
5. Browse to the mapped drive and repoint to the txt files on PC2

Done!

I tried my best to get this 2 pc set up to work playing music to the streaming PC without having to hear it on the gaming computer while Im in a game so I can hear. I got that yuotube playing to come up in the browser window of the streaming pc but it just shows the 10 sec video player default video. I try to play a song on the bot and it still plays the music on my gaming pc and doesnt change the browser player of the streaming pc.
